PRODUCT IN THE SPOTLIGHT: BEDDING

Carfil offers you a complete range of bedding from various European producers: irradiated with irradiation certificate or non-irradiated, based on wood (spruce, poplar, aspen) corn orcellulose. Our bedding range is subjected to constant quality control and increases the comfort of your research animals. The bedding is packed on plastic pallets. Standard analyzes and certificates are available.

WHICH MATERIAL TO CHOOSE FOR YOUR CAGES
The housing of research animals that Carfil sells meets all legal requirements. We offer cages in different types of plastic, always of top quality. Plastic is easy to clean and disinfect. Do you opt for cages made of polycarbonate or polysulphone? A brief overview of the advantages and disadvantages of both materials.

Polycarbonate or polysulfone
Cages in polycarbonate (PC) can be autoclaved at temperatures between 120 ° C and 138 ° C. Cages in polysulfone (PSU) are more heat-resistant: you can autoclave them at temperatures between 134 ° C and 165 ° C. Cages in PSU are almost indestructible as long as they are not scratched.

If you choose the material for your cages based on the cost price, then you should consider the fact that PSU is three times more expensive than PC. Cages in PC then form the most advantageous choice. After all, it can be renewed cheaply every 4 years, which means that you also have non-scratched cages. Cages in PSU are three times more expensive but also have a lifespan of 10 to 12 years. Both materials are unfortunately not scratch-resistant and also the way of autoclaving affects the lifespan of your cage.

The choice of material for your cages depends on the budget you want to spend, the lifespan of the cages you have in mind, and the way of autoclaving.

PRODUCT IN THE SPOTLIGHT: CAGE ENRICHMENT
Carfil Nesting Cup: With this cage enrichment based on kraft paper, animals can make a nest. The product is similar to grass stalks and is very similar to the natural nest material of mice in the wild. It is autoclavable and can be delivered with an analysis certificate. The material is supplied in dosable, pre-formed cups so you also know the fixed cost per cage with each use.
